Harsh Life Lessons Everyone Should Learn

Once you learn these difficult lessons your life will become much easier. Don't fight it, embrace it, and watch your life transform.

Life is too short to do things you will secretly dislike. If you are saying "maybe" as a substitute for "no", start saying no. It might be uncomfortable, but its better than half-assing a task because you didn't really want to do it. Give the events and friendships you value the attention they deserve.

By saying "no" you are making room for things you actually want to do.

Say what you think and think what you say. Being honest will divide the people you come into contact with. This reality can be tough and may feel alienating at times. However, as you repel some people away, you will also find a few who truly love and accept you for you.

Do not shield others from your truth. If they can not handle it, that is their problem, not yours. Your life should be filled with happiness and fulfillment, not fear of stepping on other's toes.

In order to love others, you must love yourself first. If you want to love yourself, you need to know who you are. What do you like? What do you dislike? What are your values? What are your beliefs? What core characteristics make you, you?

You might not know the answer to these questions. Seek the answers. This process will require trial and error, but it is well worth the struggle and period of discomfort.

You will have to choose between what is right and what is easy. It is not often the two collide. When you choose a difficult path that yields better results, in the long run, you have to remember you are playing the long-game. As others around you seek quick fixes for short term joy, you are building a foundation for success.

Instant gratification will give you quick and fleeting happiness. Work to create a life of lasting joy. When the hard times come (and they will come,) surround yourself with love and positivity.

Constant Change

With the rise of social media, people are begining to forget all the hard work that goes into building the life/career/relationship you have always dreamed of.

To create the life you love you will constantly have to chase it. Opportunities may fall into your lap, but it is up to you to manifest them into fruition. It will be a constant process of cat and mouse. You will reach one goal, and then you must set another to chase. Learn to be comfortable in the uncomfortable. There is a quote by Heraclitus which says, "The only thing that is constant is change." Once you embrace this change, rather than fight it, you can take on anything.

Life is a challenge. Rise to the occasion. You might surprise yourself with what you are capable of. Once you master these hard truths, your life will get a lot easier.

Take one at a time. Get comfortable with that one, then move on.

This life is a marvelous adventure. Be yourself and find your tribe. They may be few, but worth fighting for. Persevere through the difficult times and chase after your goals and dreams. Only you have the ability to make them a reality.
