8 Tricks to Keep You Hydrated

Do you struggle to drink water throughout your day? Staying hydrated is extremely important for your overall health. One of the best anti-aging secrets and anti-inflammatory is to drink plenty of water! I know it's hard to remember, but your body will thank you with more energy, better digestion, happy joints, and glowing skin. Who doesn't want that?! Here are 8 tricks to help you consume more water during your day given our busy lifestyles.

1. Buy a large water bottle and drink it throughout the day

This is my personal favorite. I purchased a half gallon water bottle from Amazon and I drink 1 1/2 of them each day. Simply fill it up in the morning and drink during your day. Leave it in a place you see constantly. The best part is the feeling of accomplishment once you reached the bottom.

2. Create your own fruit infused water

I have heard many people complain that water is "boring". Spice it up with a little fruit infusion. You can make this in bulk at home, or slice up some strawberries or lemon and add it to your water bottle for a fun subtle flavor. I enjoy adding mint leaves too for increased freshness during the summer months.

3. Track your water intake with an app

There are apps for EVERYTHING now. You think it, it's there. This is more time consuming because you have to manually type it into the app for it to track. However, if you are constantly on your phone for work this might be a good option for you.

4. Buy a water bottle that reminds you to drink

Need a reminder to drink water because you are so busy? There is a water bottle for that. Fill it up and every certain number of minutes it will light up and remind you to drink. Quirky and pretty genius.

5. Make healthy water-based smoothies

Want a simple healthy snack to fill you up with the added benefits of hydration? Make a delicious smoothie using water as the base rather than milk. All berries work wonderfully with a water base. Looking to really make it extra healthy, throw in a handful of leafy greens!

6. Snack on watermelon

If you work from home or pack your lunches, try adding a container of watermelon. Not only is watermelon delicious it is also packed full of water. Yes, it does contain sugar, but it is a better alternative to drinking a soda!

7. Try carbonated water

There are tons of carbonated, naturally flavored waters out there. La Croix has become a staple among many of my colleagues. It is free of sweeteners but also changes it up so that you are not constantly drinking tap water all day.

8. The watering hole

Make a pact with yourself to drink 20 seconds worth of water or 8 oz every time you pass a water station. Be it a water fountain, or a water stand, take a second to replenish your body.

CONCLUSION

Be integrating these simple tricks into your daily routine you will build up a desire for water. Shoot to drink at least 8, 8 oz glasses per day. Also, take into account your weight as well as your activity level. Do not be discouraged if you don't drink as much water as you had hoped, but continue to make small daily changes to help make it possible. You can do it!
